IT unions want Moscow govt to revise required data on remote staff
MOSCOW, Oct 13 (PRIME) -- IT associations have asked Digital Minister Maksut Shadayev to offer the Moscow government to exclude phone numbers, license plates, and transport card numbers from the information required from employers about the staff switched to remote work, the unions said in a letter seen by PRIME late on Monday.
The associations said that the requirement contradicts the law on protection of personal data. The ministry said, referring to the president’s decree regarding the anti-coronavirus measures, that the mentioned information can be processed without consent of the subject of personal data.
The unions said that the current labor law does not oblige employees to indicate the mentioned information when being hired. “Besides, the mentioned information together with the name and surname of an employee and the information about job make it possible to identify the subject of personal data, this is why provision of the information…is not regarded as possible,” they said.
According to the Moscow mayor’s order, the employers working in the capital city must transfer at least 30% of staff to remote work from October 5 till October 28 with some other terms.
The letter was sent by the Information and Computer Technologies Industry Association (APKIT), Association of Software Developers Domestic Soft, and RUSSOFT.
